![]() David Schack's Bike Ride Fundraiser6/21Day 11 June 21st FATHER's DAY: Venice Beach to Newport BeachFinal day was again a pleasant ride along the BEAUTIFUL beach bike paths -- we passed Manhattan Beach pier which was the start of my 2007 cross-country bike ride, also a fund-raiser for Macedonian Outreach. DINNER CELEBRATION @ The Cannery for our successful and safe completion of 625 miles -- wife and daughter JENNY joined me and my 2 fellow riders for Father's Day dinner! 6/20Day 10 June 20th: Oxnard to Venice BeachBeautiful ride along the beach bike paths -- Venice Beach, known as "muscle beach" where our CA governor Arnold Schwatzenager got his start, was a FUNKY and FUN place! 6/19Day 9 June 19th: Solvang to OxnardLong 80+ mile day -- I would NOT recommend putting Oxnard on your "bucket list", but it is right next to Port Hueneme Naval Base. 6/18Day 8 June 18th: Santa Maria to SolvangFinally an easy 40 miles into the beautiful DANISH town of Solvang -- great food and baked goods, decided to have STEAK and PRIME RIB for dinner at the Hitching Post which was a glorious protein meal for us! 6/17Day 7 June 17th: Paso Robles to Santa MariaVineyard after vineyard -- GORGEOUS ride, although we were somewhat tired after riding over 80 miles. 6/16Day 6 June 16th: King City to Paso RoblesPaso Robles is great wine country -- ate Italian at the square, great lasagna and wine followed by a HOT FUDGE sundae @ the ice cream parlor. Visiting Paso Robles was also memorable for me because my daughter JENNY, who did a summer's mission together with with me in Bulgaria for Macedonian Outreach several summers ago, worked there @ Meridian Winery for some time after graduating from CAL POLY and after she took a vintner's course on wine-making. 6/15Day 5 - Carmel Valley to King City...a good ride with good down hills---brings out the mad man in David!6/14Day 4 - Santa Cruz to the Carmel Valley via the 17 Mile Drive...it was warm through the Carmel Valley and so beautiful.6/13Day 3 - San Francisco to Santa Cruz: riding through Half Moon Bay, Pacifica and the Santa Cruz Mountains...quite an uphill trek.6/12Day 2 - Was a day of rest and all went to the Giants' Game...they won!!!6/11Day 1 - Left Petaluma to head for San Francisco. Had lunch in Sausalito. The view from the Golden Gate Bridge was as spactcular as always, but the water has never been such a lovely blue green.
